Consortium Digs Deep as Melbourne Metro Moves Ahead

Tunnelling on the $11 billion Melbourne Metro is well under way with all four boring machines digging to complete the project’s 9-kilometre twin tunnels below the city surface.

Digging has now commenced on the project’s Arden site in North Melbourne with work continuing at all sites in accordance with strict health and safety measures.

The first boring machines, which launched in 2019, completed the 1.2 kilometre stretch from Arden to the western tunnel entrance in Kensington earlier this year. Continue reading here
